The Shiny and Spicy Life

One thing I miss about San Antonio is exposure to Latin pop music; I can find it online now, but there you hear it in stores, restaurants, etc. This is one of my old favorites by Paulina Rubio (or as I like to call her, Pantsless Rubio. You'll see why). For those who don't speak Spanish, the title means "Give me another tequila." The lyrics are basically "You suck, I'm better off without you and I'm loving this tequila." The video alone gets the idea across pretty well. I don't condone the vandalism in this video! But I do condone the kissing! I also like her little silver shirt at the end-- I think I could get away with wearing that...in San Antonio or Chongqing. In Utah? Maybe not so much. (Perhaps I need to bring a little Chongqing-style to Salt Lake City.)

One morning in San Antonio, before it got too hot, I went to a street fair and a booth guy tried to sell me a funnel cake. It was way too early for that much sugar! I bought some cucumbers with chili limon spice nearby instead, and when the funnel guy saw me he yelled out, "Cucumbers instead of funnel cake? Girl, this ain't Lent! Live a little!"  That's pretty much the slogan of San Antonio. Except during Lent, haha. And even then...

It's a lot of fun living in a Spanish-oriented environment, very laid back and shiny and spicy. I feel fortunate to have lived in some diverse places. It makes Utah seem a little bland, though, I have to admit. I need to find the shiny and spicy here. I'll report back on what I find.
