Maps (To My Heart)

I collect maps of places I've been:

And the places I want to go.

(The pop-up maps are great, and I've been to those places, too. And Boston. I don't know how that got over there.) I like how orderly and systematic maps are; no matter the language, a map is readable. I keep a freeway map and road atlas in my car; not sure why, except that my dad always did. Perhaps just in case I have to hit the open road at a moment's notice? Zombies, you have been warned: can't catch me!

I have the notion to wallpaper a room wall someday in local maps of cities around the world. I have a map of Chongqing in my office, and it's quite the conversation piece. The bus route section always blows people away.

I've been given maps as gifts and I treasure them. So much potential in a piece of paper. (Plane tickets to go with it are a nice bonus!)
